Building Science - Shelter

Building Science is a course which we have to study the condition of the local climates and the building sustainability throughout the years. Not just that, we also have to studies the human thermal comfort level, mean radiant temperature (MRT), etc.

For further understanding of the building condition with the local climate, we have to build a shelter with a group of 6 or 5 and study the temperature of it for 24 hours in a week and also the shelter must sustain for at least a month before it is being demolished. This project enable us to find out how the natural ventilation and the natural sunlight helps on creating a nice comfort zone level in a space which suits the activities occupied in it as well. Below are the pictures of the shelter built by my group mates and I.

The shelter is made out of recycle wooden pallet which being thrown out by some factories nearby the university. We taken the wood out one by one and cut it into small pieces and nail it back together to form this beautiful structural wall and opening with random size of wood piece
